Hack Wilson

Hack Wilson has spent more than three decades inside the IT industry long enough to have been a true believer. He watched managed services emerge as a genuine business model. He believed the stack would get better. He thought the channel would grow up. He was wrong about some of that. What he witnessed instead was a slow, thorough enshittification of nearly everything worth caring about: pricing engineered to confuse rather than communicate, conferences designed to sustain the vendor ecosystem rather than the practitioners inside it, metrics that measure activity and call it health, and a trade press that stopped asking hard questions somewhere around the time the ad dollars got good. The MSP Contrarian is his response to all of that. Not a rant there are enough of those. A reckoning. The kind of publication that names dysfunction plainly, traces it to its roots, and refuses to pretend the emperor is dressed. Hack writes pseudonymously because the IT channel is a small world and he still has to work in it. The pseudonym protects a name, not an argument. Not the baseball player. Though that Hack Wilson had a pretty good run before things went sideways too.
